More than 1,300 original 1940s dresses, discovered in an old building in downtown St. Louis, will be on sale this weekend at the Scholarshop.
OK, technically this isn’t North County news, but it’s so fun and interesting I couldn’t help but pass it along. I know I’m not the only one in NoCo who will appreciate it.
This Saturday, at the Scholarshop thrift store in Webster Groves, more than 1,300 original 1940s and 50s dresses – many in brand new condition – will be sold to benefit the Scholarshop Foundation. All of the dresses were discovered in boxes in a building on Olive Street in downtown St. Louis, where they had sat in storage for the past 60 years.
Ballgowns, cocktail dresses and other special occasion garments will be available at the sale, with prices ranging from $5 to $60. Anyone for a vintage gala at the Savoy? The Scholarshop is located at 7930 Big Bend Blvd. Sale hours: 10am – 5pm.
