I read here with sorrow many of my fondest memories. Thank you for posting this wonderfully written article, however, anything I could say at this time would I'm sure label me as a racist. I grew up near this area and not much of my childhood neighborhood is left. It would take incredibly strong leadership to take this country back.

i had the good fortune of growing up in one of the houses pictured here. what a great place. the view of the arch from my bedroom window, the woods, the lake, the river, pius creek and the safety of never having to lock the door. indeed, i never had a key to our house the entire we lived there. while these and the incredible proximity to down town (only 1 stoplight!) the only thing that is missed is the community of the fine folks in glasgow village. great place to be young.

I GREW UP IN GLASGOW VILLAGE & RAISED MY KIDS THERE AS WELL UNTIL 2002 WHEN WE MOVED. ALWAYS LOVED TO DRIVE UP ON LOOKAWAY TO SEE ALL OF THOSE UNIQUE HOMES. I ALWAYS LOVED THE "CASTLE" LOOKING ONE! GOOD ARTICLE. :)

This really is a great area. Another neat tidbit about this neighborhood is that the Rivertrail cycling path runs right through it. Residents can hop on their bikes and take the trail south all the way to the arch without ever riding on a street with cars. Or take the trail north and over the Chain of Rocks Bridge to the massive trail network in Illinois. That would be the greatest neighborhood for a cyclist. Craig and I have cycled through there many times. Oh yeah, and Cementland, what a fascinating place!
