Barbeque Cook-Off sizzles at St. Louis Mills

More than 50 teams will compete for the title of "Best Barbeque" in the 2010 Kick-Off Cook-Off at St. Louis Mills this weekend.
If you love good barbeque, there’s really only one place you should be this weekend: St. Louis Mills in Hazelwood. The mall is hosting more than 50 world-class barbeque teams from across the Midwest, who are all competing in the Kansas City Barbeque Society’s 2010 Kick-Off Cook-Off.
Sponsored by the Optimist Club of North County, the contest will have four categories – ribs, chicken, brisket and pork butt – and the teams are all vying for more than $4,000 in prize money. Of course, the public is also welcome to attend and sample some outstanding barbeque! Starting Saturday at 11am, you can even pay $5 to taste five kinds of pulled pork and cast your vote for the People’s Choice award.
Proceeds from this event benefit the Optimists’ childhood cancer campaign. And yes, in case you’re wondering, beer will be available! So go ahead, nab yourself some tasty Q… today from 4-8pm and tomorrow from 10:30am to 3pm. Cook-Off winners will be announced Saturday at 3:30pm.
