Since 1963, Florissant has been celebrating the grand daddy of all North County festivals: Valley of Flowers.  This year, the theme is “Landmarks of the World,” and the festival committee has come up with a fun, four-day schedule jam-packed with diverse cultural activities and all the classic festival features from decades past.

Thursday, May 6, is Family Night, meaning only families will be allowed on the main festival grounds at 50 St. Francois Street. No alcohol will be served, but parents and kids can enjoy carnival rides for just one ticket and discounted meal specials at the Knights of Columbus.

On Friday, May 7, the festival officially kicks into high gear, opening not just at the Knights’ location but also at the Eagan Center (at the corner of Parker and Waterford). All weekend long, the Eagan Center will host live music and performing arts geared especially at children. It will also be the site of Cinco de Mayo Village, where festival goers can experience Hispanic music, dance, crafts and food, and the place to find the Valley of Flowers plant sale, craft fair and flea market.

Sunday, May 9, is when everything wraps up, but it’s also the day of the Big Parade. Starting at 1:45pm and running from the Eagan Center all the way to the Knights of Columbus, this year’s parade is going to be extra awesome because NOCO has an entry, with a theme inspired by a reader! If you see my big white 1965 NOCO-mobile, be sure to wave!

Until then, check out the full list of activities at Valley of Flowers. There’s definitely a little something for everyone!
