Ferguson Cycling Club hosting local garden tour

My husband's garden is one of several that you can visit during the Ferguson Cycling Club's Tour & Taste of Ferguson on August 22.
After years of being involved in the Ferguson community, I guess you could say I’m a familiar face around town. But for many people, my husband, Keith, is a total mystery. A broadcast engineer for KTVI, he works odd hours and often misses our local meetings and events, but without him I promise you NOCO wouldn’t exist.
Keith is my rock and my #1 supporter, my beloved partner of 20 years who has unfailingly backed every one of my crazy ideas. He also happens to be an amazing gardener. That’s why I’m delighted to announce that his latest creative masterpiece – our backyard – is one of several gardens being featured on August 22, when the Ferguson Cycling Club hosts its inaugural Tour & Taste of Ferguson.
Tour goers will meet at the Plaza @ 501 (S. Florissant), then ride their bikes to various gardens. Both residential and community gardens are included, and each stop will offer a “taste” in addition to a tour. At my house, you’ll get to see a 140-year-old American Elm tree, an organic vegetable garden, a bamboo grove and lots of eclectic garden art. You’ll also get to try our latest batch of homemade pickles!
All in all, the tour route covers about 10 miles, with cyclists of all ages and experience levels welcome to participate. It wraps up with a picnic at Mueller Farm, where you’ll be able to enjoy some fresh-picked delights from EarthDance.
To sign up for this free event, contact Gerry Noll. You can also learn more about the Ferguson Cycling Club by visiting their website. The Tour & Taste of Ferguson will take place Sunday, August 22, from 1-4pm, starting and ending at the Plaza @ 501.

Loving stories about good relationships make me smile!
Ferg Cycling needs to update their website…”next ride June 26…Challenger Space Center”
The Ferguson Cycling Club website is one of many Ferguson sites that I donate time to host and maintain. I have had unexpected company from out of town for the past two weeks so everything is behind schedule right now. I’m trying to get the site updates online tomorrow but fortunately you’ve got the up-to-date info here at NOCOstl. Check the site again tomorrow afternoon. http://www.fergusoncyclingclub.com. Thanks!!!! ~ Blue
Many thanks to Gerry for instigating this collaborative event that will showcase several wonderful features of Ferguson: the beautiful gardens kept by some dedicated resident gardeners; the community gardens that are bursting with produce, flowers, and neighborhood pride after 2 years of dedication and a lot of sweat-filled Saturdays; EarthDance at the Mueller Farm, where 30 beginner farmers are learning how to grow food organically at the oldest organic farm in Missouri; and of course, the Ferguson Cycling Club, one of the ways to get active AND meet your neighbors in Ferguson!
Can’t wait to see Keith’s masterpiece!
Are there any NOCOSTL.com readers out there who would like to cook or bake something using EarthDance produce (provided for you at the end of the farmers market on Saturday) to share our homegrown taste during the finale picnic with EarthDance at the Mueller Farm?
By the way, you can also RSVP on this facebook event here:

I’ve heard from several readers who plan on riding in the tour. I look forward to meeting all of you! In addition to my garden, you’ll also get to visit the gorgeous home of my friend, artist Ann Fink, who lives on 2+ very lush acres in a pre-Civil War house! See you Sunday!
There is a surprise lurking in my garden–something big that will go back under wraps and be presented to Saint Louis along with the works of 53 other artists at the World’s Fair Pavillion in October. It’s a bit of a secret and a worthy project designed to add beauty to the StL community, raise funds for a very good cause and increase awareness and love in the lives of Children in palliative care.
