In his book Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community, Robert Putman explores the importance, and deterioration, of social capital as it relates to the health of communities and democratic nations - particularly America. Intentionally developing meaningful social interaction and building the fabric of strong community ties is vital to the health of every community.
Great restaurants and wonderful people are two of the most enjoyable aspects of North County. The NoCoSTL Dining Club brings these restaurants and people together to foster a stronger community through twice-monthly dinner gatherings. Our intention is for Dining Club gatherings to introduce new neighbors to each other as they enjoy the diversity of the best restaurants North County has to offer.
Some things to know if your interested in participating:
- We are beginning with dinner gathering, but we have plans to add other meal times in the future.
- Each gathering is planned ahead, with limited seating available, and is first-come, first-served by RSVP.
- Each party is responsible for their own purchases and gratuity, which may be automatically included.
- In order to ensure all of our neighbors have an opportunity to participate in strengthening our community, financial assistance is often available upon request.
So, if you love North County, enjoy good food, like to meet interesting people, and want a simple way to strengthen our community, check out the North County Dining Club and join us for our first gathering, at Cugino's Italian Restaurant on January 26th at 6:30 p.m.
