New zoning for Florissant Firehouse #2?

Will this mid-century gem become a heating & cooling company?

Will this mid-century gem become a heating & cooling company?

With the construction of a big, brand new firehouse at Pohlman and Derhake, Florissant is in the process of converting the old Firehouse #2 to another use. On October 12, the city held a public hearing to discuss re-zoning the property from residential to commercial, apparently to allow B&B Heating and Cooling to purchase it.

Located at 1955 Washington, the firehouse was built in 1957 and features a classic mid-century modern design, just like Firehouse #1 at 645 Rue St. Catherine, a 1958 beauty that is also for sale after recently being replaced by a newer building.

Personally, I’d love to see both of these architectural gems preserved, and to remain residential. But I guess there are only so many buyers looking for a 3,500-square-foot firehouse. Or in the case of Firehouse #1, 6,155 square feet. That’s a lot of building! But hey, just think of the possibilities!
